This workshop is pitched at beginners and is run by our head barista Ged. Whether you want to understand a little more about how coffee is made or how to get the most out of your machine at home, we will take you through the basics.
Within the 2 hour workshop you will understand how to grind coffee, make key drinks on the menu, steam and foam milk as well as having a go at trying to master latte art.

At the end of the session you will have an array of skills that you can master at home. Each of these workshops will focus on a different theme, using practising illustrators for inspiration, so you can keep on coming to build up a super duper portfolio of work!

PLAY WITH CLAY - ALPHABET DISHES

Sunday 28th July - 12:30-12:30pm

This workshop is perfect for beginners. Learn how to roll and shape clay to produce this lovely make. Using the templates provided, or free hand drawing, you will cut out the base for your Alphabet Dish. The tutor will demonstrate how to use the slab building technique to create your own 3D dish.

Your Alphabet dish will be taken away to be fired and finished in a clear glaze. Your piece will be ready to collect within two weeks of the workshop taking place. ABILITY: The class is very much aimed at beginners, but everyone welcome!

GEOMETRIC PAPERCUT PENDANT

Sunday 18th August 10.30 - 12.30pm

Pineapple, puppy or the letter p? This two-hour workshop, led by tutor Ella Erskine, will guide you through techniques needed to create your own personalised pendant. Paper cutting is an art best known for Henri Matisse and Rob Ryan. You’ll learn how to hold the craft knife, how to cut lines and shapes, and you’ll design your own image.

Choose from animal, botanic or alphabet silhouettes, and wear your art with pride! Beginners welcome; only a steady hand needed.

Saturday 31st August 10:30 -12:30pm 

Perfect for beginners! Learn how to sculpt clay and use moulds. You will be shown how to use push moulds to make a small dish for the base of your jewellery holder, before moving on to sculpt and join your cactus shaped stand.

All materials and tools are provided. Your pieces will be taken away to be glazed and fired and will be ready to collect within two weeks of the workshop taking place.

STAINED GLASS – TERRARIUM

Saturday 7th Septenber 10:30 -4:30pm

Join local glass artist Kerry Burgoyne for a relaxed, fun and informal day, making your own glass terrarium/dish using the foiling method. You will learn how to cut and shape the glass and how to prepare it for copper foiling. The skills learnt on this workshops are transferable to make lots of other stained glass products once you have the know how.

Note: This course involves working with lead solder, and for safety reasons we recommend that pregnant women do not attend. Please wear old clothes and closed-toed shoes and tie back long hair. Everything provided

This workshop is perfect for beginners, using Stoneware clay we will roll and shape the slab to create your food platter. Using a range of different tools and materials to create texture and design on the platter. Your food platter will be taken away to be fired and finished in a clear glaze to make it food safe.

INTRODUCTION TO PLANTING DESIGN

Saturday 28th September 10.30 - 4.30pm

The workshop held indoors, will cover an introduction to plants and what they need, how to work out which plants will thrive in your garden and key principles of planting design. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and to work on planting design for your own garden. It's an ideal follow-on to 'Design Your Own Garden 1: Design Principles and Layout’ short course. Our tutor is a garden designer and horticulturist as well as an experienced teacher. She won a Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal for her Long Border at the 2018 RHS Chatsworth Flower Show ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED but please bring photo’s of your garden. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
